
JACKIE CHENG
Jackie Cheng, M.Ed. is a Registered Psychologist with over 12 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan, in both urban and rural community mental health clinics within Alberta Health Services (AHS).
In addition to working with Mandel & Associates, Jackie is also currently working with Community Geriatric Mental Health – AHS, where she provides assessment and therapy to older adults with complex mental health and medical conditions; including chronic pain, physical disabilities, and cognitive impairment. Here, she recently received the prestigious Calgary Avenue Magazine’s 2020 Top 40 Under 40 award for playing an integral part in the development and implementation of the Short Term Assessment and Treatment (STAT) program; which has helped to provide decrease wait times and streamline access to geriatric mental health services in Calgary. Jackie has also been working in private practice where she provides therapy to adolescent and adult clients, but also conducts psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents to further assess for learning disabilities, giftedness, behavioural concerns, and/or mood/anxiety factors that could be contributing to their learning potential. Her approach to clients is integrative and eclectic, and her recommendations are considerate of the unique needs and circumstances of each client.
Jackie received her B.A in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, obtained an Applied Psychology Counselling Diploma – specializing in psycho-educational skills and guidance from the University of Calgary, and completed her Masters in Educational Psychology and Special Education – specializing in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan.
